Welcome to Robot Armageddon

September 7th, 2009 :: 15 Comments

Robot Armageddon: A site dedicated to the totally rational but unbelievably morbid fear that the development of robots is moving far too quickly and that robots will eventually kill us all.

Unfortunately this statement is semi-hypocritical, since a a basic robot was used to write this. If it wasn’t for the progress made in science, engineering, computers and robotics, you would probably be sitting in your living room listening to AM radio.

But in all seriousness, it has to stop. Current research involving reverse engineering the human brain, nanotechnology, artificial intelligence, etc is going too far. Read on and you will soon agree with the community @RobotArmageddon.

  • You have a great site and appreciate all of your hard work to make it this way. I enjoy stopping by, as I am sure many of your followers do also. Of course I wonder how many of them are robots acting like followers? :-)

    Wow, you made me really think about something I never would have paid much attention to. I do have one question thou. Does my Roomba (robot vacuum cleaner) pose any underlying threats I am not aware of? :-)

    The Roomba is made by a company called iRobot, who also develops robots for the military…

    Your site is good. i will come again.

  • Wow….Obama said something I agree with. And I would seriously watch out for those robots that vacuum…I mean, if a robot is going to rebel, would it be a robot with a good work situation or one who is forced to vacuum all the time? ha-ha.

    I dont think that robots are evil. Until now, nobody could define what is self-awareness. I think robots can be very useful to humans. One examble is they can help us build colonies in other planets giving us enormous wealth and probably if this becomes a reality, poverty will totally be wiped out in our planet.

    Well, I’m linking to your blog from mine as I, too, agree that the world must be informed of the robot menace. Good luck!

    Hi friends …. I saw your blog the same category with my blog … Would you exchange links with me.

  • That is seriously creepy…I hadn’t realized that any people had been killed by robots, but I guess it makes sense, as many as we use. Don’t suppose you have a total number or anything?

    if robots ‘kill’ in the true sense of the word, then they have consciousness, this means then they also know not to ‘kill’, what is the difference is the knowledge of right or wrong. All robots ‘were’ fitted with isaac asimovs three laws, so i would say that unless this has changed then these would be mechanical failure-not knowledge…however i do feel that caution is always a good thing, after all humans have all the ability to not commit crimes yet we still do.
    I like this site but to be honest i am not really sure how serious it really is. But i do like it because robots as apposed to robotics have always interested me especially the possability of those that might exist as asimov wrote about-by the way asimov was a scientist and knew what he wrote about even though his stuff was mainly science fiction-it was based on possability and fact. :)
